New Board weights/thoughts

Hi, I'm fairly new to surfing, but of course already contemplating the next board. My stats are age: 56, height: 5' 10", weight: 145lbs. and I live in San Diego and am leaning towards longboard style riding but with a want to not go to big and heavy. My preferences being towards San Onofre/La Jolla Shores/Garbage at Sunset Cliffs, etc. Presently I'm using a 7' 6" xxxxx,13 lbs. (cheap chinese I guess) fiberglass which is paterned off the Walden Magic. I've had decent success with this and that is one of the reasons I was thinking to get the real thing. One of the big questions in my mind is manageable weight (that is house to car to beach with age/injuries wanting me to keep it as light as possible). I was able to find a 9' Walden Magic fiberglass which I picked up and it might be manageable, but I know a couple variations in epoxy exist (tuflite surftec, and a carbon rail epoxy model). I'd pounce on one of these epoxy ones instantly but a see a fair amount of feedback on the epoxy style being corky and wind blown in choppy/windy conditions which san diego usually is after say 11:00 am. Would anyone happen to know the weights of the aforementioned variations. I can't seem to find that info on my web searching. This is probably a case of me wanting the the best of both worlds when actually I know that gaining in one area is ussually a trade off for something else and at my weight I might be sail boarding without the sail. Appreciate and input/suggestions.

Im the same height and weight as you (41 yo). I have a 9' glass with a 2+1 setup. Shaped by a local shaper "Gary Wilson ". Awesome board for the good days. But not the board to use on the 5 second period knee + high swells. Cant turtle roll in those conditions (great workout though). The other long board is an 8' epoxy 2+1 setup. This board is great on the wind blown mush that we get every afternoon here. Handles and turns great, just not good for getting out on the nose. Find a local shop and see if they will let you try before you buy. A good shop will do that for you.

For me, epoxy is great in the mush / choppy conditions, doesn't sink in all the white water which allows for longer rides. But doesn't hold as good in the clean surf (wants to pop out). Glass for the glassy days. That's just my observation so far.
