Surfing Waves

Hey guys I was wondering if you could help me with a little dilemma I'm having.

I work for a utility company and from time to time I get put on whats called and "on call" crew. Basically what this means is during a week or a weekend we MUST be able to respond to our phones and go to work right away for emergencies. I get put on this on call deal about once every couple months or so....The worst part is I cant go surfing while I'm on it 'cause I cant get to my phone! THIS BLOWS.

Have any of you guys figured out a way to answer a phone while surfing? I was thinking some kinda long range bluetooth thing or some kind of case? I dont know...thanks for any help guys!

Aqua packs... atleast you know that someoens called... then you can go in and follow it up?!

I suppose you can answer it inside the pack but might not be able to hear very well... (turn onto speaker phone?)

Dude, thanks so much. That looks perfect, it even has a lanyard loop for the inside of my boardshorts, and you can talk through the case.

I've been in the same situation mate! Although now I don't care if I get a call and I'm not there, I let it escalate to the standby engineer...

I had the Aquapac sports version that velcros to your arm/leg. I had it on my arm but found that the velcro starts to die from the salt water and loses it's stick. So I occasionally had to go look for the thing floating somewhere after a big wipeout. It was also too big for my phone so the empty ends were a bit annoying as they would catch the water and twist the bag around the strap.

I sent Aquapak R&D my recommendations to use leg-rope velcro and a smaller case. That was a few years back, they replied they'd look into it but I don't know if they did anything.

I also recommend finding a phone you don't use very much, just swap the sim card from your good phone to the throw away phone in the carpark before you go out. The Pak won't leak but you could lose it. I came close one day it was half way down the beach when I found it.....

Plus everyone thinks you are a tosser when you get a call so I reversed the pak so no one could see it was a phone and checked it now and then for missed calls or SMS alerts. I used to have it ring loudly but everyone looks at you funny.

I am sure that part of the appeal of surfing is that you get to leave modern life behind. I think the day i start hearing all your phones ringing in the water its time for me to find a new hobby. Mind you, more waves for me when people are trying answer their flaming i phones!
Whatever next?!?

I would get a phone installed in my ass with a vibrator and an optical connection to my brain so there is no electrical interference and be on a bungee form outside to the car to get an instant repatriation and attire change ready for the off to go see Mrs Miggins whose cat ate the local transmitter as soon as she 'calls !

Or not go surfing for that weekend or week – just go running or sommit to keep fit on land !

If your phone went off next to me, it wouldn't be the only thing floating face down in the water.
