Surfing Waves

Hope you can help a newbie in all things surf related.

I have recently purchased a second hand foamie for my missus to learn to surf on. It's kinda got black rubber edges, plastic fins, a blue rubbery top and then a white plastic sheet for the base. It's polystyrene in the middle.

We were having a great time and doing really well out a Rhosilli recently...until that is the plastic sheet base came away from the rubber edge at the nose end. Before we knew it, basically half the base had peeled away from the polystyrene!!!

Anyway, I'm not too bad at DIY and would be happy to give a repair job a go, and it would only be to get her through this summer I reckon and then she'll be onto a mal. Thing is, I really don't know what to use on it to stick it back on or if this is even going to be possible!

I'd be really grateful if someone could tell me to either bin it, or if feasible, what to use to repair and where to get said glue etc!

It might cost you more in glue to fix it then a second hand one !

Polystyrene melts with solvents so be careful !

yes it is possible you should be able to get it from a diy store

Cheers for the replies guys...Yeah, I know most adhesives are either going to melt the polystyrene, or simply won't be waterproof/available in big enough quantities.

I assumed that with some of the bodyboards being made in the same way there'd be a known kinda watersports recognised glue etc?

Was there a particular product/brand you had in mind from a DIY store joem?

i carnt rember right now to be honest but ill have a look i think i still have sum around

well i would repair it the same way id repair any bodyboard of mine, last time that happened it lashed some araldite in there, super strong glue, you miz together 2 tubes (resin & hardener) and just put that in there and itll hold anything rock tight.

the glue i used was sticks like sh*t and i just coverd the bottom in it and spread it usin a wall paper paste thing then taped it up with duck tape, the duck tape came off once i thought the glue had dried and its worked fine do far lasted over a year now
