Sortboard or Semigun

hey,

I want to step up from my mininmal. a guy in a surfshop told me to get a big shortboard but now a friend of mine offered me his pintailed semigun. the size is 6'8"x18.5"x2.5". my minimal is 7'2"x20 1/8 x 2 3/4. I am pretty good with the minimal but still looking for something that is easy to paddle and good for duckdiving. is the semigun gonna work out or should I just get a big shortboard, say 6'8" or 6'10". thanks for your replies.

The semi-gun would not be a suitable step-up board. That's a big (by which I mean, BIG) wave board, and isnt a suitable progression from a mini-mal.
Go with your original plan and get a biggish shortboard,
