Surfing Waves

If all after some more advise, coming into spring / summer i am thinking of buying a small wave board but dont know what to get.

I have a Bic 7'9 and Almeric 6,4 Flyer, am at the stage were i hate riding my bic (its like a tug boat) so was going to sell that and put the funds to a new board.

I realy want somthing for them summer days or when my arms are that tyed i cant padle hard to catch waves

was looking at a 7,2 x 21 x 2 1/2 custom poly min mal or a retro fish? or maybe a small long board any advise would be much apreciated

i'd say either go for the retro fish or the longboard.

i love my fish (twinnie) for almost all waves as its performed in small mushy onshore mess to just about overhead hollowish waves. if you want a faster board that can still be turned quickly etc then i'd go for a fish.

the longboard would probably be fun, never surfed a proper longboard but can imagine them being good in the summer when the swell lacks power. really its just down to how u surf and how big the waves have to be before you give in and surf them.

even while i have the fish i don't go in unless its atleast waist high as anything smaller isn't much fun for me but i suppose if i had a longboard and the waves were peeling for a fair distance the longboard would be used from knee high.

depends on what u want to be doing i love my fish fun fast and rides well in the smallist of surf

Agree with you completely about the Bic. Never got on with them seemed a bit like surfing an ironing board!

Ive just moved on to a gorgeous McTavish 6ft10 egg which Ive found perfect for our small waves down here in Brighton and it hasn't let me down on bigger days either, both here and the west country. Its easier to paddle than my minmal with its narrower nose, very wide and plenty floaty.
