Surfing Waves

Hey guys, my board is fairly beat up from a nice surf session the other day. I know the basics of board repair and I can probably fix the nose ding, no problem, but I am concerned about the other two.

1. Ding in the center of my board is soft around it. I searched on internet it's called a delamination. I was wondering if I need to cut the entire soft section out and replace it?

2. I caught this nice right and pulled into a close out. While I was getting trashed underwater; I didn't feel the tug of my board and I thought it was broken for sure. Luckily, the leash plug is broken, and I dont know how to fix those either.

I have a feeling I am going to need a lot more fiberglass cloth and Q-cell .

I found out how a way to fix the delam by placing Q-cell into the soft section and by placing a brick onto it so they will stick. Anybody think this will work? Better than cuttting out the entire section to me.

Looked on the internet and there is no info on fixing leash plugs.

you can try the brick method... Also, if you use a syringe to squirt resin into the delaminated section, you can sometimes slow it down, but realistically there's a pretty good chance you're going to need to cut it out.

Don't be too disheartened though. Use a dremel to cut out the delaminated section, paint a fresh layer of resin onto the foam, and the underside of the peice you cut out, slap them together, then re-fiberglass over the cut you made with the dremel. Remember to thoroughly sand down anywhere you are putting fiberglass cloth so that there's overlap after you finish the repair and sand everything smooth.

As for the leash plug, just fill the hole with Q-cell resin mix, and press the plug into the socket so that it's slightly below the level of the surrounding deck. Sand everything nearby the plug. It will then need 2 layers of fiberglass matting minimum. Since it pulled out before, you might need more. Kitesurfer would be the best to ask about the specifics.
