A friend of mine bought a board recently, 2nd hand, and she discovered a bubble under the fibreglass near the plug. I have yet to sus it out, but just want to know whats the best way to fix it. Is it a full peel and re lay the fibreglass or is there a quick fix out there?

Yep good point. She doesnt seem too worried about it. I want to help her out and if I can save her some money, I will. Should have some pics soon.

I've sussed the board and there is no water under the bubble. It looks like the fibreglass has delaminated. I'll take the board to a mate and see what he recommends.

The fix I have come across for this is to drill some holes into the glass that has delamed (a little into the foam) and then inject some resin into the holes. Make sure to create enough holes to get enough resin in there to not only fill the holes into the foam but to cover as much asrea under the delamed glass as possible. Press the delamed glass down into the resin and let solidify. Once dry sand and clean up the surface. Should hold pretty well. If the delam is too far gone then give up on the board.

CHarvey. I've been to a mate who makes boards and he said the same thing. We'll see how my friend goes on the board and I'll fix the bubble soon. She's a artist, so the deck will be repainted and the repaired bubble won't be so noticeable. it's her first board and she wants to make a decent go of it, so no throw away just yet.
