Hi all,

I'm looking forward to Saturday...flying out to Portugal to surf for a week! 8) Just wondering, I've been there before but hired a board over there, I'm taking my custom board (7'6' carpet), but have a lame ass bag.

I've heard nightmare stories about dings etc. and was wondering about the best way to pack it? So far I can only come up with put in my sleeping bag then sleeping bag in board bag if that makes sense? Any other ideas would be cool!

Cheers D.S

Remove the fins...

Bubble wrap or cardboard around the rails and nose (atleast 2-3 layers)
Pack the rest of the bag with your suit, towels cloths etc.

Sick a note on the bag with "Top load only Please" in English and Portuguese.

Enjoy you trip man!

Thanks a lot to you both for advice! Do they actually take notice of the 'Top load only' notes? I'm going to do that like you advised, I just remember watching my mates boards coming of the plane before in Faro and it looked like they were just chucking them any old how!

I've up rated my board bag by simply cutting up 2 old carry mats / camping sleeping mats u know the 10mm thk foam type the same shape as ya board bag, then put the two halfs in ya board bag and ya board inbertween the to halfs.

a cheep way to give ya board bag more protection
