Hi all,
Has anyone ever tried attaching their board to the top or side of a roof box? Anyone ever seen a roof bar attachment that lets you mount your board on its side? I've got too many kids to get the board in the car and i need the roof box for all their bloody stuff! The box is too wide to get the board on the car next to it. Any advice MUCH appreciated as am getting worried now. I'll either have to leave the board or one of the kids at home if i cant think of a way around it!
Cheers - Milo

I've seen surfboards on top of roof boxes..... you just have to be careful with some beach car parks cause they have height limits!

I generally like to surf at Rest Bay, Porthcawl. Really nice shape wave when it's on but can get a bit busy on good days like everywhere. Llangennith is sweet also or Caswell down Swansea Mumbles is also mint if you can be bothered to drive. Langland is the bay next to Caswell and can get awesome if you're good enough which i'm not! Respect to anyone who gets in on the north east coast - on the upside it must be offshore most the time!
Cheers

cool, i used to normally surf at rest bay, but sometimes walk further down to pink bay to avoid crowds, also aberavon gets good surf but water quality isnt great. also gotta love the gower, langland is a good break but locals can be nasty, loads of great breaks along the gower

Surf boards and roof boxes work ok.
We all surf in our house bar the dog that is.
So we have to take to take four boards with us when we go away plus camping gear plus dog.
We carry three boards all in thier own bags on top of the roof box: a mini mal, a 7 ft funboard and a 6 ft 5 thruster and strap my young daughters 6 ft foamy to the side face of the box.
We travelled around northern spain and up to scotland like this without any problems just make sure the roof box is full Its best to get one with a small depression in the top try halfords.
Oh yeh dont forget you'll need some very long straps or maybe two sets.

For Sale:
2 children - 1 almost brand new, only 4 weeks old so hardly used. 2nd is nearly 4 years old but, tbh, is maturing nicely and seems to work better than when it was brand new.
Seriously though - cheers for all the advice guys - me mate has some long straps so I'll see if i can get them round the box and my new long - seems like the best option.
Cheers all,
Milo

Hi all
I have made my own roof box for my surf board out of fiberglass which is solid , strong and keeps my board safe. I get no noise when I drive down the motorway and it fits to any car ( with the right roof bars). Looks like a thurl but not a thurl if you get my drift. The reason I made it that it locks and I don't have to worry about carrying my board about.I even painted it the same colour as the car. If you are interested let me know.
