zetech

Any of you folks ever tried a Zetech? It's made in Thailand I think?

I sold my pride and joy last week, an old 9'9" Bahne from the 60s. The thing was just too damn heavy. Some herniated disc problems demanded something lighter.

I loved that Bahne in part because it was indestructable. Made before the optimization of fiberglass and resin in terms of strength to weight; that board had a HEAVY glass job.

I don't want my heel putting a ding in the deck on day-one of my new board purchase. I"ll be taking the board out in surf up to a couple of feet overhead.

I am certainly past my prime in terms of surfing (45). I never have been a hot-dog. I like to catch a lot of waves and perform relatively simple moves. It would be nice to nose-ride. I've never actually hung ten (no pun intended) , but I'd like to.

Spending close to a thousand bucks on a board is out of the question. That leaves out the Stewarts, Takayamas etc.

I looked at some boards by Walden called "Magic". I have found out that they are made in China or somewhere in that neighborhood (rather than here in the US). I have nothing against those folks but "Walden" sounds so all-american that I don't know what to think.

So please tell me about zetech if you know anything. I've been surfing for over 20 years. As I already mentioned; I'm no hot-dog, but I do like to carve a bit.

Alrightee, I'm starting to think in terms of owning this board for a long time and I might actually be ready to drop the big enchilada on it. I'm now strongly leaning toward either a 9'1" or 9'5" McTavish
