Well i have been procastinating about this for ages and curiosity has got the better of me - guess you could say been building surfboards in my head for months never had the physical time to actually do it. After toying around with a stripped board im off to buy me a blank.

My main question is that anybdy have any recomandations on what type of power planer i could use. Not the hitaachi i dont have a spare $400. my budjet is pretty tight right now :(

Im gonna cheat slightly as im not glassing the board (gonna take it to a glassing factory for that) - mainly because im gonna do some wild art work on the board and dont want to flesh it up at glassing.

Chars for the info

No replies!

I use a ryobi planer. Cheap and cheerfull around £60 over here so maybe around $60 if you can get one.
The adjusment for depth cut is nice too as it can go from min to max depth cut in just over 180 degrees.

Don't forget to keep us updated as to your progress. Always good to hear about someones first build!
Any idea as to what your going to shape? Be interested to hear how much it costs to have your board glassed professionally too.

I do almost all of mine with just a surform, and some sanding boards. I just use a planer to skin the blanks and take them to general thickness. That's it!

I haven't shaped in so long.....got a 2 week break coming up, maybe then.
