Surfing Waves

I've damaged one of my boards and would like to repair it myself.

It is old and so glass if fairly brittle, have put a couple of pics on so you can hopefully see.

I have done a fair bit of fibreglassing but have never had anything to do with a board and I am wondering what cloth to use etc and how I go about it.

Sorry, can't help you in the fixing process, I just get a man in.

As its an old board personally i wouldn't worry too much about cosmetics, this will make life a bit easier and less time consuming.
First off i'd make sure any loose or damaged material is removed then give all the surrounding glass a good hard sand 120 grit.
Next up i'd work on the top. 2 strips of 6oz glass the bottom one slightly smaller than the other laid onto resin around the tail of the board. Give ur self an inch overlap on the top and let it hang over the tail of the board. Wait till it gells/go's green and trim with sharp knife. Let it cure overnight.
Next work on the bottom.
As u've left the glass to hang it should now if u've trimmed it right give you an edge to work too. Using a mix of resin and micro fibres (very finely chopped fibreglass or glass bubbles if micro fibres is not available) make up a paste that you can use to fill the gap between the over hanging glass and the bottom of the board. Be over generous with your filler you can allways trim when it gells or sand back when hard.
Once cured you could sand the bottom smooth and get the top looking ok or you can put a sanding coat on the top to get a better finish its up to you.
Important thing is to get the bottom smooth and your release edge sharp.The deck just needs to be watertight and strong.

Do you think the small black cord for the leash "sawed" the edge of the board? I hadn't thought about that and took a look at my wife's board. If the black cord can "saw," she might be headed in the same direction.
