Surfing Waves

Here's the deal....

I primarily ride a 9'4" X 3"single fin mostly point breaks in town (Santa Cruz) I've been surfing for over 10 years and consider my self intermediate.

I'm looking for something new and here's a little background info:

I'm 33, 5'11", 185 lbs., decent shape

Been skating my whole life and enjoy riding Sector 9 cosmic- Think flexy w/ very loose truck. So I'd say my style tends towards carves as opposed to bashing the lip and tight turns.

I'm looking for something shorter that would complement my style and open up new surfing possibilities while keepin into consideration that I'm not 150 and 18 anymore.

I'd say that 95% of my surfing will be waist high to a couple of feet overhead in a variety of conditions.

I know the thing to do would be to consult a local shaper, but the reality of single income with 2 kids will likely point towards a used board.

My daughter currently rides a 7'10" fun shape and while I know that a 6'4" thruster isn't the board for me, her board has more meat than I'm looking for.

Any guidance/ suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Retro fish providing your not riding steep barreling waves. There great on point breaks and less steep slower waves. Go for a quad if you want more control or a twinny if you want down the line rail to rail carving.
How are you with catching waves on smaller boards cause your current board i guess catches everything you go for?
Go see if you can rent one out and give it a go, there alot of fun.
Size wise 5ft10 x 20.5 x 2.75, personally i prefer twinnies.
