fin box fin stuck, and damaged?

Help please, I'm having a really bad couple of days...............
After trashing my favourite board, and buying a hurried replacement which I can't get on with, I've got my longboard out again. Wanted to check the fin box, as the fin has taken a whack and paint is peeling off. The screw is turning but wont undo, so the bolt must be turning in the finbox. I'm now concerned that the bolt will have holed the fin box and water will get in. Is this possible, how thick are fin boxes??

Depends on the box. The one I put in last night was about 5mm (1/5") thick.

It usually takes a lot of force to puncture one - they are high density resin.

Is the plate still in the box?

nope sorry, I'm an idiot, I don't know what the plate is, but I suspect it is still in there as nothing has come out.

To loosten the grub screw try and soak in warm water to dissolve the salt.

the reason the bolt wouldn't come out is because the guy at the surf shop who fitted the fin to the board when I bought it, put the wrong screw in. It was too long, so it hit the bottom of the fin box and bent as he screwed it in. I'm glad these guys actually know what they're doing with peoples brand new boards!!!!!!
anyway, it's all fixed now, a guy I know, who is a really good longboarder and was one of the guys who talked me into longboarding actually cut his surf short to get out and spend half an hour taking it all apart, and then took some bits off his spare board to fix mine. What a diamond.

Plus he repositioned the fin as I'm a lightweight and was having trouble turning, like a new board now. I'm well happy.
