question on shaping...

Looking good Karl. I notice there are no cheesy actions shots of the shaper in action!
Isaluteu have you ever done a hot coat pigment. Ive never seen one but often wondered how they would come out bearing in mind most of the hotcoat gets sanded off. I imagine that the colour depth might be a bit wishy washy.

hot coat finished today,i called in the help of a freind to do the fins....wow,loads of good tips,turns out my freind has shaped 2000+plus boards :D turns out theres quite a lot to know about putting the fins in as well :roll:

what,before or after :lol: thanks,thats nice of you to say.i glassed the fins in this evening,now im having nightmares about the fins falling over before its gone off :? then again if i open the garage door it MIGHT cause them to fall over :roll: im gonna stp thinking......

Fins can be stuck in place with a hot glue gun prior to glassing.

another good tip there k.s! all was well this morning and im just puting a final coat on her.ive managed to get some dirt in the deck but i recon i can hide it with wax,something ill be more carefull of next time.

nice one,yes ive wetsanded,400,800.....cant get 1000,i paid 10 quid for the 800!i went against the advice i had and put a logo on top,well i had to didnt i. although i havent had an invite,my friend who did have a unit shaping boards has had an offer to share a new unit shaping kiteboards.my intention is to offer myself as free labour after work.i was an apprentice 15 year ago,ican do it again :lol: funny since i have an appretice myself now.

oh,and im gonna be a dad :D

Scroll towards the bottom of the page, there's some stuff called surfboard polish, put that on a pad on a buffer and go at it!

Make sure you don't have anything in the pad that could scratch, like a little grit of sand paper or whatever. Then you will have a swirl going across the entire thing.

I only ever go to 800. There is no need to go any further as you will not be able to notice the differences.
Just ordinary car polishing compound is what i use with an orbital sander. To be honest though its my least favourite job. Taking a big sander to a finished board is just a knightmare waiting to happen.

point taken,so is t cut okay? to be honest i just need to stop fecking around with it :lol: the mistakes i made are in there and wont happen again :roll: im not counting or anything but it will be ready to go in 8 days.........prroblly be no surf for 30.... :roll:
