wetsuit?

Postby namino tsume » Mon Oct 11, 2004 6:20 pm

I need a wetsuit for oct/nov for up in New England. The water temp is usually about low 50s. What size wet suit should i get for these temps. A 5/4 or 3/4? Also, i would like to be able to stay out for 6 hours, so i need to be warm. Would they 3/4 do it?

I've been in low 50s water before in december and went out in a 4/3 and thought it was perfectly fine. I was out for about 4 hours n i got hot at times. It may be cuz im a hot body but that was my experience. Unless you get cold easily or its windy and the air temperature is cold as balls, a 3/2 would even be okay.

namino - i got a 4/3 myself and it suits me fine. you wont have any problems in the low 50's with a 4/3. but your in connecticut right?? water is gonna get a hell of a lot colder than that. 4/3 might take ya through nov. into dec if your lucky but after that you will need the thicker one.

i have a 3/2 and in may i went to cape cod, and got a slight hypothermia after 45 minutes... but im not positive its a 3/2, it might be just a 2mm. But the next day the water warmed up a lot and i could surf fine...
The beach gruad people said the water temp was 48, then went to like 55.
