Question

Postby joedirtcb » Sat Aug 04, 2007 12:43 pm

Okay well 3 of my fin screws have been tightend very far down, so far down where i cant get them out. My dad has tried and no luck for him either. He got his whole tool box, trying everything to get it to come out. So is there something we can do? Are there tools for that? But i dont want to take it to a surf shop, They will probally make me pay.

Thankss.

You'll have to drill the screw and try an easy out.

you can take an allen wrench and super-glue it to the screw. be careful not to get glue anywhere else! Then you can take a pair of lock-jaw pliers, lock them to the allen wrench, and turn it out. Only problem is though, if you break the allen wrench in the screw or get glue anywhere else you are HOOPED! I have used this method to get screws and bolts out when there is no other option, but only when there is no other option.
Personally, I would take it to the surf shop, because if the screw is that far deep in it, there will probably need to have some repair work done to the fin box/screws anyways.
Just my 6.3 cents worth....
