US blanks up and running

Postby tomcat360 » Fri Oct 06, 2006 8:26 pm

For those of ya'll keeping track of the foam news---it's looking good right now.

US Blanks, created by many of the ex-employees and head-knockers of Clark Foam, are up and running, and COMPLETELY LEGAL!

On the roster is Kim Thress and Jeff Holtby (Clark, +40 years each), Ted Wilson of Fiberglass Hawaii. More Clarkers Patty Wirtz, Joel Lizarraga, and Reed Price.

Right now they are doing a water-blown TDI Polyurethane foam--good stuff. I'm not sure if it's consistent density throughout the blank like on Rhino's, but I think I'll be getting one of these blanks after I use my longboard block o' foam.

Shapers include Pat Rawson, Timmy Patterson, Eric, Arakawa, Roger Hinds, Rennie Yater, Bruce Jones, George Downing, and Dale Velzy.

I don't wanna curse us and say that the foam situation is under control like people said last year, but it's looking better all the time. Hopefully they can get in and start getting a ton of blanks off, to eventually drive down the costs.

wohoo. Finally someone stepped in!

Could this possibly mean the prices of boards are going to go down? Or will those money making bums still charge the same prices for cheaper foam?

It should eventually run down the prices. However right now, a longboard blank is still 125 for a US blank, and about the same at Rhino.

Or, they could be money hungry companies and keep us paying 600 for a shortboard.......
