Cromer Winter Surfing

Postby sean3483 » Thu Sep 14, 2006 9:58 am

Hi, has any one here done much surfing around east anglia in the winter?

Iv had a board for about 3 months now and only used it once! So im thining about investing in a winter wetsuit and accessories.

Im not sure what thickness to go for? are the thick ones very restricting?

What about socks, are they worth it?

Cheers

For winter surfing in this country you will defo need a 5/3 wetty a decent set of boots (min 3mm thick) + a hood for when its xtra cold.
Obviously the thicker the suit the less flexibility, but if your willing to spend a few quid you could get something with flex panels in the right places or spend a few more quid and the whole suit would be more flexible!
I cant fault my psycho 2, warm/no flush + fairly flexible.
1 bit of advice is try on as many different suits as humanely possible and look out for the 1 that fits the best.

My Billa-Bong 5-4-3mm Oscillator is very warm in cold water, and it has stretch panels so not too restricted,
Billa-Bong boots are warm too, dont forget that you need gloves aswell.
let us know when your going and i might join you cos i live just down the coast...

I surf Cromer every winter and you NEED a 5/3 suit, boots, gloves and hood.
Get your ass into East Coast Surf shop on Dove Street in Norwich and speak to Mark, G and Stu and they wil sort you right out with all you need. 8)
