TimberTek repair and Advice

Postby RabFire » Tue Jun 16, 2020 8:13 pm

Hi All,

I'm looking for some advice on how best to repair my TimberTek Baked Potato.

My friend had been borrowing it and came back fine on first inspection however since taking it out of the bag recently I've realised the bottom has been sanded to the wood in one area! It seems like a tight fitting sandy board bag seems to be the culprit.

Attached are a few photos: you can see that there is a white area near the nose on the left where the worn away section is. There are a few more thin areas by the fins too. You should be able to see a contrast between the photo of a smooth finish and what is clearly the grooves of wood grain.

My question is on how best to repair this? The outer coating seems incredibly thin and feels like it can be compromised by sneezing on it! Am I being paranoid about having any small breaches to the wood as the durability seems questionable? My understanding of Timber Tek is that there is a layer of glass under the wood?

I'm really open to opinion here as I want the board to last as I love it!
