Anyone know when this board is from?

Postby jbloomfield » Mon May 04, 2020 8:23 pm

Not a surfer but I uncovered this old board, not sure of much about it except that it’s a little beat up and a 7’6” robert august. Any information on it would be great!

Old boards aren't usually worth too much if that is what you are wondering. Foam and resin ages and becomes brittle with time. If you want to surf it probably not a board for a beginner. If someone famous owned it that might make it more valuable. Nice shape though might be good for Hawaiian waves. Sometimes there is writing on the blank near the midline stringer on the bottom of the board. That might provide more information if present
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

Robert August himself is a fairly famous surfer and board shaper, but he has also franchised his name to more mass produced boards. So his name itself doesnt mean much

In fact it looks a lot like this model http://www.surfscience.com/surfboards/s ... r-fun-fish

So its not a unique board by any means; its mass produced by one of the biggest manufacturers there is.

The tail of the board is kaput; that will cost a bit of money to repair.

You can probably sell it but you wont get much over $100-120 I wouldnt have thought, unless the rest of the board is in really good condition
