Soft Racks recommendation?

Postby murphysf » Wed Aug 28, 2019 5:53 pm

Hello

I am looking for soft racks to carry two 8ft Wavestorm Surfboards. In the future I might want to carry 3.

I see in photos that boards could be stacked on top of each other? Is this a good idea?

Specs are:
Length: 8 feet (243.8cm)
Width: 22 1/2 inches (57.4 cm)
Thickness: 3 1/4 inches (8.3 cm)
Volume: 86 liters
Weight: 11.5 lbs

Wanted to hear from others what soft racks are recommended?

Anyone have the Northcore, Mystic or Quicksilver?

Don’t do surf racks if plan travelling by highway.
Annoying noise at decent speed. Get hard ones. On top of that the straps inside the car along the car ceiling are quite annoying if you are 6 foot or taller.
Overall, they are all more or less the same.

this will be an issue for me as I am 6'3"

years ago I remeber seeing soft rack that didn't have the strap that ran inside the car. they had simple metal clips at the ends of the straps that hooked onto the side edge of the roof where the door close.

does anone know if these exist ?

Instead of the specs on your surfboard, what’s more important is the specs on your car. What make and model is it.
