Do these dings need repairing?

Postby garthtrickett » Sat Mar 31, 2018 10:33 am

I headbutted my board today and got some dings but i'm not sure if they need to be repaired?

In general, at what point does a ding need to be repaired?
If you see foam??

A simple rule for the weave in glass Fibre if you can flick it or click it by dragging your finger across , it will let in water and need fixing.
I’d definitely fix the top ding, the second rates a probably but if I was doing the first I would do the second. :D

Rails are very vulnerable areas so even if they aren't leaking water I would fix them next time I fix anything or if I had to spend time out of the water due to head trauma :)
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

Thanks for the reply from both of two. I will take it to get them both fixed.

And if you do decide to get them fixed, WHO is going to fix it ? A repair shop or yourself ?
I ask because those type of shatters, most shops won’t waste their time doing them, they fix dings NOT shatters.
And if you got them quickly after recently purchasing you new board, then more are bound to happen. Better to learn how to repair shatters yourself.

The good news, is the dings are easy fix, depending on the boards make pu there are solar UV setting kits available.
You need to know what your board is made of to choose the correct kit.
Fixing is fun ( I think so) and a skill most surfers should have, saves dollars in the end.

Surf a lot and you will get much worse,.
DO find out what your boards construction is, the wrong repair kit can do serious damage to the board
