Fin mould - where to buy?

Postby JeppeTarp » Mon Jan 29, 2018 11:22 am

Hi,

I work at a large surf company and all across the globe we pickup on average 100kg's of plastic from beaches all over the world. We would love to try and use some of this recycled plastic to mold our own fins for our beginner boards (soft-tops + first hardtops), with the hope of increasing the awareness for guests and let them see how important it is to re-use the plastic.

We do realise that the quality of the fins would be less than a store-bought plastic fin, however, when it's your first week of surfing, you won't notice much of a difference.

Does anyone know a place where you can find a mold for melted plastic that will fit a Futures fin system? :)

Sounds like great project, two ways have mold made, or research recycled plastic suitable for use in 3D printers that way you could have numerous shapes on file. Be aware that futures and FCS may be protected by copyright and patents.

Maybe too you could recycle broken fins. Great thoughts.
