Tail pad with heavy texture

Postby saltydog » Mon Oct 30, 2017 4:15 pm

I've put on a cheapo tail pad on my longboard so it can help me step back . But there isn't enough texture on the pad for me to feel it over the booties. Do some pad have heavier texture? Or should I have gotten the one with arch in the middle of the pad?

Going barefoot has crossed my mind. I've become a little spoiled by the booties making it a little easier to wade in and out of the rocky area as well as being able to slack off of waxing the board thoroughly. Oneill heat ninja is thin enough but they wore out pretty quickly, so I may have to toughen up and expose my little piggies.

So I guess all tail pads feel more or less the same underfoot. Does having the arch in the middle make any difference?

The arch helps on a shortboard but IMO would get in the way on a longer board since proper positioning isn’t necessarily in the middle of the board.
