Anyone ever built their own board?

I've been looking around the net on information to possibly build a board, was curious if anyone has ever done it themselves and if so, any suggestions or thoughts on it? I know it won't be anything spectacular if I build my own, I just think it would be a nice project to undertake and who knows, maybe I'll find that I have a good niche and could possibly get better at shaping!
