As some of you knows that I'm moving to NYC to surf at Rockaway beach/Long Island. I'll be living in the city and probably won't have a car. Would need to use the subway and I can't be carrying a longboard. I checked the board storage place and it costs around $900 a year. Plus the beach there isn't that suitable for longboard.
Therefore I'm planning to bring out my Torq 6'3 that I've used less than 5 times since I bought it new.
Dimensions - 6’3” x 20 1/2” x 2 1/2”
Recommended Rider Weight - 45-75kg / 100-165 lbs
Volume - 36.0 l
I was only able to catch 1-2 waves before I run out of stamina completely. But the good thing with Rockaway is that it breaks 10-15 meter away from the beach. And hopefully I'll be surfing every weekend again.
Perhaps I should get something bigger? 7'2 or 7'6 funboard? I've no problems surfing a 7'6.
Dimensions - 7’6” x 21 1/2” x 2 7/8”
Recommended Rider Weight - 50-100kg / 110-220lbs
Volume - 52.4 l
Or a 7'2
Dimensions - 7’2” x 21 1/4” x 2 3/4”
Recommended Rider Weight - 50-90kg / 110-200lbs
Volume - 47.2 l
I'm leaning towards the 7'6 if it can fit into the subway. My dimensions are 172cm, 64kg.
