Can you tell me about my board?

Postby beachmike2 » Wed Aug 10, 2016 7:03 am

Hi there

I own this board (see bad :-) picture attached). It is made by Rip Curl but that's about all I know. I bought it from a guy here in Switzerland who imported it from Australia but I don't know when and how much he paid back then. What I would like to know is the following:

- What kind of board is it?
- Is it rare?
- What is its value today?

I tried to find similar boards on eBay etc. but I could't find any information about it, this is what made me think I might have a little treasure in my basement. The board seems to be untouched, I think it has never been used, there are no scratches or dints.

Thank you for your help.

I know the Aussie Rip Curl guys , but a couple more and better photos will help the set up of the fins underneath would help. The picture nor the nose of the board may help too.
The board is probably a promotional wood and EPS type, there may be other names underneath .

Rarity to be determined , but certainly a unique board in Switzerland. Hang on a little searching will happen here!

:D

Most likely it's a wood veneer board. It's reminds me of the old Surftech boards Molded EPS/Epoxy construction. The top layer although, was a cheater coat of polyester resin which they polish up nicely. But those Surftech "woodies" were made at the Cobra factory in Thailand. I think yours might be made in China.

So sorry to break the bad news, but it's not worth a fortune. More like $871.64.

I had a Woodie David Nuuhiwa 9'8" Noserider. If you couldn't nose ride that board, you just couldn't nose ride. But I sold it because of all the Spider Web cracks on the cheater coat. The Tuflite painted boards stood up to more bumps than the woodies did. But they sure look nice new.

Hi guys

Thanks a lot for your feedback. My board looks exactly like the one on the picture except the wood on top is a bit darker but the patterns and logos are identical.

800 bucks plus is more than I expected, I paid 300 for it so looks like I made a good deal!
And if I ever want to use is it will be good enough for my skills I think.

greetings from switzerland
