Do I need to repair this?

My surfboard fell on the ground and now a part of the shield skin is gone. I do not know if I need to fix this. Any idea if water can get in my surfboard?

Apply a layer of sun cure on it or apply a layer of mixed epoxy to it. If it is cracked more than I can see in the photo, then mix epoxy and apply one layer of two ounce glass. Once cured, go surfing. After you damage the board considerably more, make a proper repair with color, too.

If you're a lazy person like me and lose paint off your board sometimes on the rails or tail, super glue works really well for light damage, let it rest for about 5 minutes and you're good

For a quick bandaid job, sincere etc. should be fine. If your board is epoxy you need epoxy resin. If poly you can use either poly or epoxy(I wouldn't do epoxy on poly board as a permanent job though.) Poly resin will eat up epoxy boards so be careful. Wrong kind of glue etc. can eat the foam as well. Hardware store resin will turn yellow from sun exposure. Better to take your board to a surf shop and have them recommend a correct product. You can also have the shop repair it for $$ or down the road learn to fix it properly if desired. Good luck!

First, please tell us what make and model the board is. Looks to me like a molded epoxy that got paint chipped. Seems the glass layers is intact. I would wet sand the area lightly with fine grit 400. Dab some car touch paint.

Thank you guys for the replies and tips! It is a Torq 6'8 epoxy funboard. I will buy a Ding all Suncure epoxy repair kit to fix my surfboard and save some $$.
