New Board Advice

Postby leftfield27 » Sun Jul 31, 2005 5:41 pm

Hi, I have been surfing for 4-5mths now and have just about got the hang of standing up on my 7'9" bic minimal popout. My girlfriend is almost at the standing up stage.

I want to get her a board as she finds mine a little big (like a tank as she puts it). I was thinking that a slightly smaller lighter board would suit me too as I start to progress.

I am 5'9" and 82Kg, and she is 5'6" and 60Kg. I was thinking of a 7' board or perhaps something even smaller for our second board (we dont often surf at exactly the smae time.. children y'know!) so I wouldnt mind something a little different from my board to get some variety. Is a fish a step too far for novices like us, I understand that they are quite good fun and catch small waves well, but are not that stable.

Any suggestions for shape size thickness etc appreciated.

thanks Duncan
