"Board Bog" - Anyone has ever used/heard of it?

Postby IanCaio » Fri Mar 18, 2016 9:50 pm

Hey guys!

My board (the 6'0", the other one is at my aunt's) has two holes on the tail, not big (about 0.5cm) but both are getting water in, and you can even spot the foam on one of them.

There's a place that would ask me 10 bucks on each hole (fair enough to get the nasty job out of my hands ) but it would take 6 days and the surf is up so..

I bought silver tape and a thing called "Board Bog", which seems to be a temporary solution for dings. It's a mass, that doesn't get hard or anything, you just cover the hole with it. I left the board dry for two days and in the sun today (not sure if it was time enough since I've been surfing with it dinged for a while). I'm planning to cover the hole with this board bog, and cover it with some silver tape to get it even more protected, at least until there are no waves for a while.

Anyone ever heard of this board bog? Man, I hate ***king dings!!!

Yeah I've used it and it does the job. Don't jam in into the hole too much, you just want to cover it, otherwise it'll need to be scraped out.

To be honest though, you could very easily and quickly fix those dings properly yourself.

Thanks man, good to hear it works!

The dings aren't that hard to fix indeed, problem is I've no space to work here, I'm in an apartment. I could try to do it on the living room with the windows open and a fan, also do all the sanding outside. I'd need to buy some resin though. Maybe it isn't worth it all the trouble to save 10 bucks each ding.

At least temporarely I'll use this bog and the silver tape to keep the foam dry and buy some time to decide what to do later.

Forgot to mention, I ended up leaving the board to be fixed properly, a guy asked a really fair price (I'd spend at least the same buying material to fix it myself, not to say the workspace issue). Should be ready by thursday, not many waves this week so the timing was good and I'll have it fixed for real, instead of delaying the issue with the bog. I'll save it for emergencies.
