What kind of board is that?

hey there

first of all: Im new to this webpage and forum. Hi everybody and thanks for this great site I think its a really nice source for surfers.

I am a beginner surfer and the last time I surfed in the philippines I rented a board which I never had before. It felt so good I caught nearly all the waves. Unfortunately I only have two picture and not much more. Special is the shape of the board, at the rear its not round but straight and there is only 1 (large) finn. The guy who rented me the board told me its a "log" board but maybe this was also just his accent and he meant it's a longboard.

Since I have really no experience with boards I would really appreciate if you could give me some hints what kind of board this is. My goal is that next time I can surf something similar. Can you see something out of the pics?

That's a Diverse....based out of Gold Coast and Bali shops, Dave Verall (Feral Dave) is the shaper and brand owner. I had a racing mullet shortboard of his and it was AWESOME. All the chat about his boards is positive....only negatives is the cost but from my experience and conversations with happy owners, you get what you pay for in this case. Always trumpets that he uses Buford blanks, and according to the boys at Naruki the glassing quality is really good on the boards.

Hard to tell which board from the photos but the tail shape could be either of the pigs or the nose rider. My guess from the dimensions would be the modern pig as those dims are a little undersized for the other two choices that would most likely feature wider, thicker boards. Anyway it is one of these.....

So would you recommend those boards also for a beginner? (not bloody beginner but still pretty new to the sport)

They are beautiful boards with pricing to match....not really something that you want to share the experience of the requisite 100+ pearls milestone in your growth process. I learned on a secondhand board that was a little beat up with pricing to match....sold it once it had served it's purpose and got board that matched what I'd like to do in the water (still figuring that out as well as improving since is isn't really entirely down to the board.......)
