Shaper in southern California

Postby pandarturo » Mon Nov 11, 2013 5:04 am

Hey guys, I'm moving down to San Diego in Feb from Hawaii. I'm wondering if anyone knows any shapers that area still underground but reputable. If there is a shapers alley like here in Wahiawa, any info would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone is going to be in the area, let me know!

Depends what part of San Diego.

By La Jolla in Sorrento Valley I have been using Addict Surfboards, totally underground so prices are still relatively cheap, but the shaper has done ghost shaping for Rusty, Kane Garden and others. His shortboards start at $450

If you end up in south bay I also use Natural Selection Surfboards, he used to do the airbrush and glassing for Tony Staples and Craig surfboards. He's a little cheaper but less known so his shorties start around $425

Got digits for both

There are more expensive and well known local shapers if you don't mind paying more, like Plus1, Sharpeye and Kane Garden, expect to pay at least $575 for a custom board.

Oceanside I like Linden surfboards, never ordered from him but have bought some 2nd hand and been impressed. Got a bud that buys all the weird new designs in longboars: parabolic stringers, epoxy construction, etc. Always goes to Linden.

Near there in Encinitas Bahne surfboards too, good people.

Hey IBS, sorry to bring up an old thread but I was wondering if you knew any shapers that have experience with eps stringerless carbon rails. All that new tech they have been pushing!
