I got this board the other day, and I don't really know what it is. Is it Hobie? I don't really care or anything, I just want to restore it. Plus the guy just wanted a rod and reel to take his son fishing. That's pretty respectable so I gave him four completes and his son a blowdart gun, and wishes for many fish.
Anyways, the board is an old log, but it's awesome. It's 79 3/4" x 19 1/2' x 2 3/4. The tail's a pretty deep vee with a long fin box. The green paint of the stripes is starting to lift and it looks like it hasn't been cleaned in centuries. I made it a point to read some recent posts about cleaning a vintage board, but with the paint like that I didn't want to touch it yet. Am I gonna have to do a complete stripdown? I have to fix a couple spots where there is damage so there is already gonna be sanding on it. Should I hit it all?
