changing wax temperature????

when i first bought my board around march last year, i waxed it with Cold water wax (surf wax quick humps purple label).

was all ok, until it got sunny & the wax melted in the bag, and on the board. reset hard again after it went in the water so was okish.

Then in the seummer i was advised to change to a cool water wax, so i scrapped all the cold wax off and reapplied from new.

Now its going to start getting colder, do i need to clean the board again and start from scratch, or do i just put cold water wax over the top of the cool?

then do i change again next year, or did i do it wrong going from cold to cool?

Just put it straight on top (IMO)

Soft (cold water) wax will work fine on top of hard (warm/cool water) wax, but won't work the other way around - the hard wax will scrape the soft wax off.
So as you get towards winter, just swap wax and put it on top.
But as you get into spring, take the opportunity to give your board a good clean and some nice fresh wax for summer

I like the cool, or warm water wax better than the cold water wax. The cold water wax is soft and mats down, and melts easily. I would rather have my wax a little harder to put on and have great wax bumps that don't melt the first time the sun comes out. That is what I find works best. I use a tropical wax for my base wax. It is true that the cold water wax goes on easier, but it also comes off easier and is stickier, so it does not hold the wax bumps very well, and also dirt and sand stick to it more. Good Luck!
