Getting A Custom Paint Job?

Postby Dispatch » Thu Sep 01, 2011 5:38 pm

Is going to a board shaper the only place you can get a board a custom paint job or are there any commercial companies that you can order an 'off the shelf' board during production with one?

Boards can be sprayed using a water based acylic paint after they have been shaped and glassed by any artist. You just need to cover their work once done with an acylic laquer.

Make sure you go to someone reputable... I made that mistake and my board looks like some dog puked on it :( I bought my longy from a hire shop, he'd had it in a few weeks but nobody was hiring it (it's huge) so he sold it to me pretty cheap. He said he'd sort it out with a nice custom paint job before we picked it up and asked what I wanted. Well, I picked it up and it looked like some kinda tie-dye job with patterns drawn on with a felt-tip pen. I had to strip it down and it looks kind of ok now.

Yes! rides brilliantly so I guess it doesn't matter how it looks... still, I looked a right idiot coming out of the surf with it under my arm.
