advice on ding repair

Hi guys,

Now this might be an insanely dumb question but I'm about to do my first ding repair and don't want to screw it up. Basically a small chunk near the tail came off and I got some Suncure resin from the surfshop to fix it. Now it says on all the instructions I could find to apply it in the shade and then expose to the sun to dry - problem is, it's been raining here for days and probably won't stop for another week or so with no end in sight (surf is still great tho). So the question - can I just let it dry inside and will the effect be the same or does it really have to be exposed to sunlight? Anyone got experience with this?

it just won't dry as quickly as these products use UV rays to harden them. As long as there is sunlight or UV light it should dry anyway.

I did one yesterday using the Solar Resin stuff - it was raining, so I put the board by the big windows and ensured it was in the sunlight. It took an hour or so to cure (vs 15 mins in the sun), but still worked ok. Make sure it is properly cured before sanding though or you end up with a gummy mess!

Man. I did my first ding repair in hawaii the other ady and xxxxx cured in like less than a minute. Im used to waiting 15-20 minutes too.

thanks guys. luckily the weather gods decided to let some direct sunlight through this morning so i got it fixed and it healed up in 5 minutes, but even when it was overcast doing a second layer it worked just fine as Jonny said. will test out how successful the repair was tomorrow.
