What type of fin is this?

Postby surfnguitar » Mon Sep 14, 2009 6:04 pm

Hi everybody,

I just bought an old Mark Richards Twin Fin for cheap at a garage sale, but I can't figure out what type of fin system this takes. It looks kinda like future fins, but there's no screw hole. It's got two small bars on either end of the fin box that a fin would "lock" into place on, but that's it...it's got me stumped. Any help would be great. There's a picture attached to this, if I did it right...first time on the forum :-)
Thanks!

i woulda guessed future, and the screw hole fell off lol .

or it could have been glassed in and broke off? cause if you look at hte sides its like brown around the area, and that could mean that it broke

Well I found out what this fin setup is...it's a G&S Star Fin System. This was used in the late 70's and early 80's and was one of the original "removable fin systems". That said, these type of fins are hard to find as they no longer make them. Looks like the owner before me may have tried glassing on some fins cause he couldn't find any.

Does anyone here happen to either have a set for sale, or know where to get one?

Thanks!
