Soft Roof Racks and Board Bags?

Postby rob7130 » Tue Oct 26, 2004 7:54 am

Might be a daft question but ive not been surfing that long and only just got my own board. Basically is it safe to strap my board to my car with its travel bag on using a soft roof rack or is it more likely to slip under the straps with the bag on? Does the bag effect the grip onto the board? Any advice appreciated!

Thanks Rob

Rob,
No doubt about it - your board should be in the bag. The straps tighten more than tight enugh to hold it down.

The main thing is though, as you drive around - especially on a motorway - little stones can flick up from the car in front etc and ding your board. You should always have it protected on the roof.

Having it strapped up in the bag makes it more secure than without... esp on a Hard rack. On a Soft rack like urs its fine.

Yeah the soft rack will keep your board secure but I will never put a soft rack on my car again after I used one a few years back and it scuffed the paint off in a few spots where it vibrated in the wind.
