I think this fora could be a lot better with a few changes.

1. Put up a sticky: Search before starting a new thread. e.g: In my opinion it is pointless to have 20 threads about Costa Rica. People could do a simple search, and will probably find the answer they are looking for. If not, the question could be asked in that thread.

2. Get rid of the bad english, and sms language. Moderators should give out warnings to those who use this crap, and if it happends again, delete the thread\ post.

3. A bit of humor doesn't hurt anyone.

4. Make registration a requirement, and you won't get random people coming in asking random questions.

I agree totally with this but I am not sure a sticky will solve the problem. I'll see about putting a message somewhere in view. If people see a duplicate post and it is not picked up by a mod then why not post a link to the original post so duplicated can be eliminated. The surf spots section would definately benefit - it's a good example.

I don't like the sms stuff ( damn mobiles, I don't even have one - I don't like them)

Agreed.
It's unfortunate that it can be hard to tell sometimes when typed - use of the emoticons is encouraged.

It's a bit of a toss up which way to go with this one. We've had registration in the past and it does put off people replying to posts if they have to register. There needs to a good stream of posts to keep things fresh, but useless posts are of course no good. Ler's just say this is continually being reviewed by myself.


Other views on these subjects are welcome. (No Even Flow - there will be no free scones with every new registration.)
