No it wouldn't, the program survey monkey is a cheap and not particularly accurate survey tool, anybody that used it in a class of mine would FAIL
:bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: Your University lecturers need to be stuck with something blunt, ( like the edge of your tongue) for encouraging this rubbish :!:

This particular thread is about providing feedback on this site. Go away and rethink your project :!:

I thought it was a forum for like minded surfers to discuss surfing and common topics. I literally just became a member of this site and am really shocked that you gave this kind of response. It is unnecessary and extremely unfriendly and there was no need for it.

Hi Sunsandandsurf, since you are one of the few survey posters to reply and ask my reasoning I will answer you.
This is my opinion and it is probably not that of other people on the site so all is not lost!
The site gets numerous requests for survey monkey type surveys , the majority of the questions are the same and then they mention an item of surfing equipment. Pretty much your lay out! Often the surveys are a front for an advertising set of data and surprisingly enough the surveys are posted by first time posters who are using the poor data collection method to finish some design project. You ticked all the boxes :!:

There is an amazing amount of the data you would like to collect on the site if you took the time to read.
My main criticism is not of the students but the fact that Universities and and other tertiary centres of learning are (maybe) encouraging students to use poor choices of data gathering.
IMO a lot of laziness is evident sourcing information/material for projects. I apologise that you have had head on collision with my soapbox.

I feel these surveys are like evangelist born again door knockers coming preaching at my door.
Strangely enough if you or another surveyor approached me at the beach or I would share fair knowledge with them

BTW the critique as you see is about the surveymonkey format not you, try reformatting your survey to real questions and you might get some replies

Well your comment is fair enough as you are entitled to your opinion... freedom of speech and all that!!! However I still believe you were very unfair to right such a comment. I have been doing this project for a long time and YOU HAVE NO IDEA about the depth of research i have gone into. I am a surfer myself (have been since I was 9) and have done an excessive amount of first hand research although being at university full time means I do not have a lot of time to go. Your outrageous and nasty outburst really made me feel terrible. If its survey monkey you have a problem with then again that's your opinion and although freedom to write what you like, I disrespect the deliberate cyber bullying attempt. It was a quick survey that people could of chosen to do if they wanted to and your whole argument was quite frankly pointless and unfair. Don't tar everyone with the same brush

Hi Sunsandsurf, I am happy to pull my head in and apologize, you are right I have no idea about your research, and I am sorry that it made you feel bad, perhaps I wouldn't have shot my mouth off,( it was not about bullying although I'll wear that criticism) maybe a clearer preamble without exposing your full research might have helped :?:

You are the first person to come back and refute, the criticism of survey monkey surveys and explain why.
Part of the process of establishing your area of study is dispelling arguments to the contrary.
You've done that.
I think I'll go and fill out the survey now :bigoops:
