I thought it was a nice place, but just because I put a favourite site of mine in the Shoredump section (which is very clearly marked for promotional purposes) I get called a troll....if this is the welcome to expect for new members I will think twice about entering anything else here.

If you don't want new members to access those forums close them off. Don't just attack your new members because they happen to find something else of use in your site.

An apologee is appropriate here.

Members are weary of people posting soley for self promotion. I am sure you'll find everyone is nice and friendly as you contribute over time.

this is the first surfing forum I've found that is newbie / kook freindly and isn't loaded with bad attitudes and foul language. thank you.

thanks especially to jaffa for some great and very thorough informational posts..... I've only spent a couple of hours here and already learned alot.

Thanks dklay, I'm glad you appreciate Uncle Jaffa's scribblings, much of surfing's journey is done by yourself but it's nice to have sign posts and advice on the way.
When I started longboard surfing had barely reached Australia (1958) and the short board was yet to come, my hope is that many people get the joy in the journey that I have had and am having at all the ages I've been 9 to.............
