The search button sux! I have tried several searches and get no were what i am looking for, like if I know the was a topic I was looking for as Eskimo Roll, I type it in and that topic is not even envolved in 3/4 of the post so I put eskimo and Roll and the same thing happens! Can we make the search Button more user friendly so noobs like me wont post the same thing a thousand times, cause its not like we dont try to search first, its the search dont work very well!
Thanks

The search box on the right is fine for single word quick searches. The problem comes when a multi word search it done without using the advanced search. The simple search looks anywhere where each word appears (in your case every post where Eskimo appears and also every post where Roll appears) - so the search will return lots of Roll posts that will have nothing to do with Eskimo.
For multi-word searches use the advanced search feature where you can search for posts where all your listed words appear. This should make searching much more effective.

As an afterthought I have added the google site search beneath the quicksearch - this will not just search the forum pages but all the site.

How about a Profile search button for the whole SW Surf Club pages??
I was going to add a couple new friends and check out that whole MyCrew feature.. then realized I have no idea how to find their pages to "invite" them.

Any help/advice??
Thanks.

A quick way to do it is click the Map icon that is on each poster profile on the left hand side. This takes you to that members map page (even if they have not added themselves to the members map).
There will be an invite link on that page.
I have been meaning to add extra icons at the bottom of each post along with the private message / profile buttons. I'll get round to it at some point.
Cheers
(one of the problems with adding a search button is that a member does not actually have a main site profile if they have registered on the forum (and not the main site register page) and not clicked through to their main site profile.)
Any ideas about improving the the main site profiles / making them more accessible or useable will be appreciated.

I say vBulletin! Anyone with me?! I am actually about to sell a license at WHT.com. Although, I am not sure if there are any custom mods made specially for surf stuff.

I looked at vbulletin a while back but to be honest at the moment it is too much hassle converting the board over, tying in the site login and learning how it works at the moment.

I used to be in the Bulletin Boards trend really bad a few years ago and I am on the online business. I have used phpBB, vBulletin, Invision Power Board (formally ibforums), Ikonboard, MyBB, PunBB, SMF, etc. Personally I believe you would be able to have a much more customized, user friendly and efficient forum if you were to switch to vBulletin. It is quiet some work, that is for sure, but I believe it would be well worth the change, specially by the quality of their search system (which I love) it's very efficient. If you ever decide to change and need some help, let me know, I would be glad to give some help.

I'll have to look at this seriously at some point as I have not already upgraded to 3.0 yet and should really do. I think vbulletin is probably the way it will go when I get round to it.
Thanks for the offer of help, I might take you up on that.
