Hey what are the chances of getting a quick reply at the bottom of the thread so you don't have to click "reply to post" to make a response?

Would be nice and fast, also would cut bandwidth down a bit as people wouldn't have to load a new page to reply to a thread.

something like this:

It's something I have thought about doing from time to time and decided to have a quick look over breakfast this morning (toast + marmalade + laptop = sticky keyboard)
I have added a cut down version of the quick reply so you don't get all the formatting features of the normal post reply but hey - it's quick reply. You can still use the BB tags if you know them. ( [ quote ][ i ]... etc )

feeback welcome as usual.

SP  (this is not beer, it's my morning cup of tea)
Promptly responding to member feedback!

I expect the number of posts to increase exponentially with this new functionalilty.

I'll take that tea jibe on the chin - it's evening now and I have cracked open a beer

I'll have a look at PMs, I'm not sure if they work in the same way.
I will let you know.
