Surfing Waves

I stumbled on this forum a few days ago and have been having fun reading the posts. Seems like there is a good mix of surfers here. I have been surfing for a long time. 18 years to be exact. Most of it on longboards. Once in a while I hop on the 6'6 thruster but I usually do not have as much fun on that as I do the big boards.

Recently though I have been considering a Quad fin fish. I like the thought of riding something shorter sometimes, with out giving up the easy paddling of the longboard. I think a fish is a good compromise. Any other longboarders given this a shot? How did it work out for you?

I've got a 7'4" super fish, great fun, but I tend to ride a longboard most of the time, and just use it for a low tide sucky waves blast. I'm rubbish on it, been riding longboards exclusively for 15+ years, and it's way different, but it's good fun re-learning how to ride a shorter board.

i felt the same way last year although i had only been surfing longboards for 2 years, so i got myself a 6'6" bilbo egg, its got a 2+1 setup and is one of the best boards iv ever ridden. but i am only 15 and only way 10 stone so im probably finding it easy because im not a fully grown adult. but the board is great, its realy easy to turn and i let my mate have a go on it who is realy got at shortboarding and he was doing well nice floaters and snaps on it so its got the performance that a log hasnt. also its realy floaty and easy to paddle and duckdive.

if your wanting to try something smaller i woul definatly go for a big egg, there basicly longboards with the middles cut out

The fish I am considering is a 5'9 quad fin. I paddle and catch waves just fine w/ my 6'6 so the jump to a shorter though wider and thicker surfboard shpuld be pretty easy. Its either a fish or another 10 foot log!! I think either will make me very happy!
