Im new to surfing and my daughter has a 9'6" surfers alliance long board. She broke the outside fin and I am having trouble finding replacement fins with the shorter (3") fin box.

Is this a common problem because surfers alliance boards are no longer made?

i dont know anything about that board company but i still might be able to help. is the fin "glassed" in, or does it look like it could be removed? if its glassed in, which will be easy to tell because it will look like its melted into the board, then you will have to take it to a surf shop and get it repaired. if not it shouldnt be to hard to find side bites for it, just ask around a local shop.

Honestly if your new to surfing take the other biter off and get a 9-10" single fin, board will be more stable and better to learn on.

One difference is that you aren't looking for fins, you're looking for side bites.

I remember having an SA board and it had FCS fin boxes. Should be fairly standard.

Ah ha - also, I remember Surfer's Alliance now. They had a shop in Lavallette and were a bloody rip-off. The board I had weighed at least twice what it should have, but the suckered my parents in back when I first expressed an interest in surfing.

If you're in Jersey, go to Ocean Hut Surf Shop and ask Tony G. to fix it for you. They might tsk tsk you over the brand, but Tony's a good guy.
