hey guys. a newbie in town.
moved to perth australia last august and only just started to learn surfing last month. there was 'no need' where we lived before (nottinghamshire in the middle of england, no sea!)

i have just completed my level 1 surf lesson. must say.. brilliant!

my firt board, 9'1 longboard malibu classic. but struggling abit so may need to downsize to a 7'6. or is it a case of more practice?

as there is no forum for newbie's i figured this was the next best place.

thats me in a nutshell.

if your struggling you probably dont want to move to a smaller board, because smaller boards are usually harder to catch waves on. just keep trying and youll get it.

I wouldn't suggest going shortboard until you've gained mastery of a larger board. It will just lead to frustration, and should you continue, a much longer learning curve. Stick with the longboard until you feel very comfortable, scalling down to a shortboard will be cake then.

Welcome to the site,

What are you struggling with?
What's you're height/weight?
Is that board a single fin?
