Going to take 1st lesson.
Looking forward to it.
This will determine if I want to get a longboard or go back to just bodyboarding.
I'm 47 (not that bad out of shape).
I live in Ventura County, Ca.
Just wanted to make a post here.
I already think I will like longboard surfing, I get real impressed seeing guys my age, most even older surfing them in little wave, even!
Later,

I used to see a bloke in his late 60's pass my house with a longboard under his arm (was 100m or so from the beach).

And he was jogging, man if I'm there at his age I'll be so stoked...

I surf with a guy who is 72 and is still out there hitting it hard. It is my plan to be still hitting it hard at that age also.

I'll be 52 in July.

Where you going to surf in Ventura? I lived there from '76-'78, really enjoyed the Fairgrounds, Rincon, Pier and Hollywood by the Sea. You ever come down to San Diego, look me up!

It will be Silver Strand surf school.

I like county-line and Neptune's Net area
However, probably won't learn and pratice there.
Will know more later.
I'll keep in mind the invite, thanks.

Calhoun,
Good luck with your lessons, just remember after you break a few bones, swallow several hundred gallons of seawater and get bitten/stung by rays and Jellies, it's all worth it! BECAUSE IT IS!!!!!

Get the stoke, keep the stoke.

I took the lesson, did not stand all the way up, but caught and rode a few wave in squat position was told I did great and was looking good. however this was my very first time and I think I will get the hang of it.However I cut the lesson short I bumped foot onto a rock and broke off a part of my big toe nail, I did not want it to get any worse..so I had a great time, good little workout and scheduled another lesson!
I was a beatiful day, water was great, and 93 degress out!
Yes message me abput your cousin in Camarillo!
Oh, it was 2-3 foot waves!
Thanks
Gary

Awesome. So you just squatted? Pretty cool. When I started I stood straight up (stiff legged) I think your ahead of the game if your squatting, standing will come more easy for you as your knees are already bent. Good job.

Well, took second lesson Yesterday, I still did not stand up, however I can get in squat positon and I kept the board trim and going straight, I do believe I could have and could have and should just stood UP but did not, seemed the ride was at the end. So I have learned and experienced alot during the 2 lessons and next step is to buy a longboard. and keep at it.
I am glad I took the lessons and could not imagine buying a board and going by myslef and getting out there.
BTW..after the lesson I was just sitting around..didn't feel too good , could have been from night before, the red bull & energy pill I had for breakfast and a little salt water blended in..and all of a sudden it all came out!
Whew!..
