There's an 8'10 board i've got my eye on, hand shaped, single fin. I'm quite new to surfing really but I really want to get into longboarding. Given that i'm a 5'2 girl (well 24 year old!) Could I noseride etc this size board?

Thanks a lot!

I would say that you need to get use to surfing a longboard, then progress to noseriding. As far as that board it might work as a noserider. Usually noseriders are made just for that purpose, but I have seen people noseride regular longboards. I have a 9' Sakal Noserider that doesn't ride like any longboard I've ever owned.

My advise would be get that board and learn to surf it well, then start cross-footing you way to the nose. Have fun. :D

i have to agree with the other reply nose ridin boards are made for that purpose - but you can have a go onj anythin!! SOme friends of mine have made a 6 ft longboard(if you can still call it that) and they can still nose ride on it( 1 of them is 18stone) best advice is just go for it and do what makes you happy!!!!
aloha :D

Yeah I wasn't going to just try it straight away, I meant if I was to buy that size board, would I be able to progress on it? I'm still not sure whether I want to get a longboard or shorter board...i've got a beat up 6'2 at home but I haven't tried it out yet, i've finally fixed up all the dings  Could be a disaster waiting to happen lol :)

At that size (assuming you are within your BMI) you should be able to.

But, just like everyone says, take your time. Don't expect to be up on the nose reliably for a season or two.
