The poll is the main question. I would just like to get numbers so i can use it for stats for a schoool project.
Kindy appreciated it if you attempt the poll. :)

It's a bit of a vague question, CJ, and will depend on the individual surfer. For example, someone who's been surfing on a shortboard for years isn't just gonna up and swap to a longboard just 'cause they retire!

Also, do you want to know what retired people DO surf on, or what forum members THINK retired people surf on? It's a whole different thing! Plus, what about other board types, fish, funboards etc? If you don't specify them as a poll option (or at least an option for 'Other'), your results will depend on respondents' opinions of which categories these boards may (or may not!) fit into, and you will probably end up with skewed/biased data.

(Guess who did a large questionnaire-based survey for their dissertation?! )

Good luck anyway! :D

I think they should surf on whatever the hell they want, and not be defined by a stereotype.

Good luck on your poll!

That is good answer. I've found it depends upon what kinda waves you have available.

It has been scientifically proven by the Blinkered Uneducated Thinking Taking Old Citizens' Karma Society (BUTTOCKS) that, upon reaching 21, all surfers immediately buy a 12 footboard, grow a beard and wear a bandana in the car park.
Upon reaching 30, said surfers adopt a Billabong zimmaframe and mutter to themselves about how kids today dont know their born.

that looks like a bite to me. he's jokin lol. although a 12 ft board would make catching waves ridiculously easy for a lot of people.

im wondering how long it will be til roy reappears now a board of more than 10 ft has been mentioned?

There's a guy at Wits who must be 70, always there, and he rides... oh, okay, he does ride a longboard, but thats just coincidence, and it is a south coast longboard spot... but anyway, he's always there with his missus. Top man. :D

And he rips too - he's not just going for a stroll on the water. He puts all the groms to shame
